Service Overview
Passport renewal is required when your existing passport has expired or is nearing expiry. It is also needed when all observation pages are full, when significant personal details have changed (such as a name change after marriage), or when a child passport needs renewing as the child grows older.
While HMPO has made the online renewal process more accessible, errors in applications — particularly with photos, form details, and supporting documentation — remain common and lead to delays. Worldwide Visas & Passport Services Ltd reviews your renewal pack before submission to ensure it is accurate, complete, and meets current HMPO requirements.
We advise on the appropriate renewal service (standard, urgent, or fast track), prepare your submission, and guide you on the quickest available route given your travel dates.

How It Works
We confirm whether standard or urgent renewal applies and what route best fits your timeline.
We complete the renewal form on your behalf (or review your completed version) to ensure accuracy.
We verify your photographs and supporting documents against current HMPO requirements.
We advise on online, postal, or in-person submission and confirm your application is ready to go.
What To Avoid
Many destinations require 6 months of passport validity beyond your departure date. A passport expiring in 3 months may not get you on the plane even if it technically hasn't expired.
HMPO requires your most recent passport. If you have held multiple passports, check which is your current valid one.
This is the single most common cause of renewal delays. We check photos before submission.
If the name on your renewal form differs from your current passport without supporting documentation, HMPO will request additional evidence.
If one parent does not have sole parental responsibility, consent from the other parent may be required for a child passport renewal.
HMPO's online tracking tool allows you to monitor progress. Use it regularly — unread correspondence can cause further delays.
Common Questions
We recommend applying at least 6 months before your travel date. If you are travelling to a destination that requires 6 months' validity beyond your return, factor that in too. Even with an urgent service, there is no guaranteed turnaround.
HMPO holds your current passport during processing. You cannot use it for travel during this period. If you have urgent travel, book an urgent or fast-track appointment — or arrange alternative travel documents if another citizenship permits.
It depends on parental responsibility. Both parents with parental responsibility should ideally consent. Sole parental responsibility holders may need to evidence this. We advise on your specific circumstances.
HMPO offers premium appointment services at passport offices. These are subject to appointment availability and require you to attend in person. Not all applications qualify for all urgent service types. We advise on what is available and appropriate for your case.
HMPO cancels and returns your old passport in most cases once the new one is issued. If you need your old passport for visa stamps for a specific country's requirements, discuss this with us and we will advise on how to handle it.
